SEAL

Seal
This project looks at the redesign of a mini heat sealer (a device used to seal plastic bags) through the application of different design cues to explore diverse visual directions.
To accomplish this, three distinct mood boards were created, each representing a specific design cue: rugged adventures, retro vibes, and premium elegance.

Rugged Adventures
The rugged design focuses on a more industrial, functional design, incorporating ridges, textures and colours. Drawing inspiration from products designed for use in harsh environments, such as military gear and outdoor equipment, the design was streamlined and functional, incorporating bold lines and contrasting colours to create a tough and durable look.
In addition to creating the mood boards and design concepts, the project was taken a step further by crafting unique and detailed scale models of the mini heat sealer prototypes.

Retro Vibes
The retro mood board includes design cues that evoke a sense of nostalgia and vintage style. Incorporating elements such as muted colours, rounded shapes, and playful typography, it uses inspiration from old-school appliances and industrial design, from the 1950s and 1960s, to create a design that feels nostalgic and retro.
With great care and attention to detail, each of the design concepts was brought to life through the creation of scale models. The retro design model had a charming, rounded form, with colours that echoed the nostalgic vibe.

Premium Elegance
The premium mood board focused on creating a design that was sleek and sophisticated, incorporating luxurious materials such as brushed metal and leather. Drawing inspiration from high-end lifestyle and luxury products, creating a design that exuded elegance and refinement. The form was streamlined and minimalist, with clean lines and a focus on high-quality materials and finishes.
Crafting the scale models required a great deal of precision and patience for the premium design. But with every cut, bend, and glue, the design transformed from mere concepts on a page into a tangible, three-dimensional object that could be held, examined, and appreciated.
